Successes
Here's just a small sampling of some of our recent projects and successes this year.
Earth Day Cleanup, April 2023
Last spring Mission Moosup collaborated with local residents, schools, the Town of Plainfield, Plainfield Recreation, the Masonic Lodge of Moosup, Plainfield Beautification Committee, Plainfield Lions, Moosup Little League and more to plan for and implement a large and successful Earth Day event.
The event was a fun and exciting success with over 80 residents participating in town wide cleanup activities as well as beautification plans through flower plantings, gardening and more. This was our FIRST planned event and we are so proud of our community and the response. Looking forward to more next year!
Movies in The Park, Summer 2023
Our first Movies in the Park series kicked off this summer. Mission Moosup collaborated with Plainfield Recreation, Moosup Little League and the Plainfield Lions to make this series of events a success. Our goal was to provide a zero cost, family fun set of events in a safe setting for our community.
Setup as a drive-in style event, we had visitors from around the area enjoying movies under the stars, with popcorn sponsored by the Plainfield Lions and ice cream from RaRas Ice Cream truck. Movies such as Encanto, The Princess Bride and Grease were planned this year.
Overall the series was a success and we look forward to planning more of these with input from our community for the 2024 season!
Community Caroling, December 2023
Frosty air, hot cocoa, jingle bells and the sound of carols fill the air. That’s right - Mission Moosup is the group behind the annual Christmas caroling troupe. We’ve been doing this for a few years now and each year the voices have become more numerous and merrier! This has turned into a fun tradition that brings cheer and warmth through the immediate community surrounding the park and school areas of downtown Moosup. We look forward to this event as a great way to sign off the year and ring in a new one.

The Giving Tree, December 2023 - January 2024
During the holiday season this year, Mission Moosup built and managed two giving trees for members of our community in need. With generous donations from businesses and individuals in the area and abroad, we were able to continually fill these trees with hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and more! Items donated were either high quality new product or lovingly hand made by members from a variety of local groups.
We couldn’t be more proud and our hearts more full from the level of generosity this event has brought to our community. We will CERTAINLY look forward to making this event bigger and better for 2024!
Transformation of Moosup “Town Green” into Moosup Rotary Park, 2023-2024
The Moosup “Town Green”, the green space opposite from Walgreens, started as a vision and has turned into a reality as Moosup Rotary Park, a community park for events, public access and open space. A lot of groundwork went into last year with the purchasing of a gazebo & benches, along with zoning approvals. This year the area has begun its big transformation, celebrating it’s groundbreaking on April 6th, 2024 with the support of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce. We’re looking forward to this exciting project as it continues to progress this year and to strengthening the partnerships forged behind it (Mission Moosup, Plainfield Rotary Club, Plainfield Business Association, Plainfield Beautification, and the Town of Plainfield).
